Eating local. There was healthy food to be had, superb coffee, and it was very chill.

It was at this point in the trip, when I had been on the train about 21 hours, that I had to ask whether Amtrak had purposely chosen the routes through the most stunningly beautiful parts of America.
If there is an aesthetic case to be made for long-distance rail travel in the United States, this view makes it without a single word.
This view doesn’t do justice to Klamath Falls, which is a gorgeous town. This was the first place on my trip that I realized I would have to come back and visit.
Mt. Charleston obscured, Red Rock Canyon below. It’s a warm, comfortable hotel room, but somehow I’d much rather be in a tent up there somewhere.
